How much does it cost to open an account?
It is absolutely free to open an account and there are no pop-up ads or obtrusive advertising. Tradesindex.com will never sell or give away user information or email.

How do I become a member and open an account?
You can become a member of any tradesindex.com service by signing up either as a user or as a tradesperson.

User accounts: As a user you are able to post, edit and delete any number of jobs from your account dashboard. You need a valid email, which will be verified, before you sign up. To make a User account go to http://www.tradesindex.com/user/add-user.php and follow the instructions. If you do not receive the initial account verification email for any reason, enter the email address and password you used to login and you will be given the option of resending the verification email.

Tradesperson accounts: As a tradesperson you will be able to create a profile page that lists information and services that your company offers. To make a trades account go to: http://www.tradesindex.com/trade/add-trade.php and follow the instructions. After verifying your account you will be asked to upload a profile picture. This will be your main profile picture and it should be something that is original and represents your trade or company e.g. your business card. You can change this picture any time by logging in to your tradesindex.com account and clicking on the [picture] link on the top right menu. The picture must be smaller than 5mb; it will automatically be resized and reduced in quality for quicker loading and viewing.

NOTE: You will receive an email every time a job in your area is posted that matches the categories you registered under.

Ex. if you are registered under electrician and your location is set as Seattle; you will receive an email that says a job-request for an electrician has been posted every time a user posts a job. If you are interested, follow the link in the email to view the job, if you are not, delete the email with no harm done. You can turn this feature on and off in the edit link [profile (edit)] link in the top right menu. You will also need a valid email, which will be verified; before your page will be visible. If you do not receive the initial account verification email for any reason, enter the email address and password you used to login and you will be given the option of resending the verification email.

How do I publish a job-request posting?
You can publish a job request posting in two ways:

With a tradesindex.com account:
Users that want to post multiple job-postings for a large project should open an account with tradesindex.com. This will give them an easier and less time consuming way of posting, editing and deleting multiple jobs at their discretion. To join, all you need is a valid e-mail that will only be used for verification purposes and to send you message/account alerts. Go to http://www.tradesindex.com/user/add-user.php to sign up as a member.

Without a tradesindex.com account:
You can still post job requests without an account; all you need is a valid email address. This is to deter spam and robots from auto posting on the tradesindex.com site. After you enter your job information and corresponding details; you will then be sent an email from which you can publish, edit or delete your job posting. Please keep this email as you will not be able to edit or delete your posting without it. An alternative to this would be to become a tradesindex.com member where you can easily and quickly edit, delete, post any number of job postings directly from the tradesindex.com site.

How do I contact job posters or trades?
You must have a trades account with tradesindex.com to contact job-posters if no phone number or email is listed in the posting; this is to prevent data miners and automated robots from accessing the information. You can then send them a message through the internal messaging system. They will then be notified by email saying that they have received a message on their account. You can contact trades by the information they have on their profile or by using the internal tradesindex.com messaging system. DO NOT SEND ANY INFORMATION OVER THE MESSAGING SYSTEM THAT YOU WISH TO KEEP PRIVATE. How do I make a gallery or post pictures? As a trade registered with tradesindex.com, you will be allowed to post pictures and galleries in your profile which will be visible to everyone. Click on the link in the top right menu [galleries] and the galleries application will start. You must create a new gallery before you can post pictures in it. After a gallery is made, click on [photos] to upload pictures into that gallery. You can delete photos, edit information, or delete galleries all through this interface.

How do I change my main profile picture?

You can turn this feature on and off in the edit link [profile (edit)] link in the top right menu after you log in to your trades profile. Or you can follow the link in the email alert to turn the feature off.
